Controls not so good

I really like fighter planes and I figured that Id really like this game, but not so much. Maybe Im just confused or doing something wrong, but the controls just dont really work for me.

I tried both the accelerometer and the pad thing. With the accelerometer, it seemed like when I turned a little the plane turned a lot, which was not cool. With the pad, sometimes it didnt even recognize that I was trying to turn the plane or while I was turning it would slip back to stationary, which was not cool either.

I havent played much of the game, but the basic controls are just bad in my opinion. Maybe Im just missing something.
